NOW SHOWING AT TREME
Long Island born and raised, self-taught painter Diego Garcia has had a passion for art since childhood. The Brentwood native has been on an artistic journey since he began hosting events and showing his paintings in galleries at 17 years old. The now 26-year-old artist finds himself showing his work in numerous galleries and venues on Long Island and in New York City. Since 2015 he has had three successful solo exhibitions.
The first (Fire Away, 2015) in Huntington, NY and the second (Leaving, 2016) in Chelsea, NY. Diego's 2016 show was a private art gala for The Covenant House NY, an organization which provides services for homeless youth in the city.
Diego’s Third solo exhibition was presented by the Huntington Arts Council as a solo invitational. It was on display from April 6th to April 28th, 2018 at the Council’s Gallery space (213 Main Street, Huntington NY, 11743). The show was titled Summit and featured a brand new collection of paintings that depict both universal and personal emotions and stories. He does this through his use of color, movement, and imagery of children, ultimately personifying and symbolizing these emotions and stories. More than half of the 27 piece collection sold within Diego’s month long exhibition.
The artist now prepares for an exciting 2019 calendar. He was nominated for best painter by Bethpage Best of Long Island 2019 and is currently creating an all new body of work to be shown at Muñeca Arthouse in Patchogue, NY. The new collection of artwork will debut to the public in June of 2019.
