GINA SAMSON

SHOWING FROM

NOVEMBER 1st TO NOVEMBER 30th

tl_files/treme/content/LaaBEX/!2017!/ARTISTS OF THE MONTH/JAZZ BLUE NOTES WS.jpg

NOW SHOWING AT TREME

UNTIL NOVEMBER 30, 2018

Gina Samson’s artwork reflects the rich cultural heritage and vibrant colors of Haiti and the Caribbean, as well as her experience as an immigrant discovering the New York City urban environment. After showing interest in the arts at a young age, she enrolled in her High School’s art program and participated in shows and competitions.   She regularly exhibits in the New York Metropolitan area, and her work is featured in several corporate and private collections.

Currently her work explores music and the visual arts, focusing on the relationship and interplay between the two art forms.  “I most often listen to jazz while working; and it is the 'soundtrack'of this production.  While music is a frequent theme, the inspiration for my artwork is really the journey that brought us to today’s experiences, the stories and African traditions and cultural heritage evolving and enriching the human experience.”

JOHN AND ALICE COLTRANE HOME

KICKSTARTER PROJECT

tl_files/treme/content/LaaBEX/!2017!/ARTISTS OF THE MONTH/KICKSTARTER COLTRANE HOME ARCHITECT DRAW WS.jpg

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thecoltranehome/this-place-matters-the-john-and-alice-coltrane-hom

We at TREME have always carried ourselves in the culture of supporting the ARTS of Long Island. With this in mind we are assisting in the marvelous task of joining the  Volunteers that are revitalizing THE COLTRANE HOME in Dix Hills, a non profit organization that has saved an important part of Jazz music history.

The John and Alice Coltrane Home is a historic site, designated a National Treasure by The National Trust of Historic Preservation in October 2018. Inside the home, John Coltrane composed A Love Supreme — considered one most influential albums of music of all time — and Alice Coltrane recorded her groundbreaking Impulse! Albums, including A Monastic Trio, Universal Consciousness, and Journey in Satchidananda in the basement recording studio. The music conceived and created under its roof is some of the most important art made during the 20th Century.

Join us in this effort by participating in any way you see fit to the KICKSTARTER PROJECT. Learn more by clicking the link above.
